The Gardening and Beautification Club offers gardening classes and workshops, hangs and maintains the City of Craig's Hanging Basket Program. A greenhouse has been constructed at the Craig Pool.

The Prince of Wales Island Runners Club organizes races and training for runners all over the island. The Runners Club is also involved in the POW Island Marathon, which is held on Memorial weekend.

Island Bow Benders meet Saturdays from 7 to 9 PM in the City Gym. For more information on the archery group, contact Kathy or Mark Kruse at 826-3845. Club participants must have a valid Alaska Bow Hunter Safety card.

The newly-formed Hiking Club will host informational hikes around the island. These monthly hikes will be posted on the Parks and Recreation home page.

Trail clean-up and help with maintenance will be a club focus. In addition, the Hiking Club will also be involved with SEAtrails, a regional trails organization promoting the development of a trail system throughout Southeast Alaska. Find out more about SEAtrails at seatrails.org.


Through Craig Parks and Recreation, the Girls Scouts organization serves area girls from kindergarten on up, teaching them to be responsible citizens.
