Eagle
Canoe Rentals rents canoes primarily for the purpose of
traveling the mighty Yukon River between Dawson
City (Yukon Territory),
Eagle
City
and Circle
City (Alaska).
Our canoes are available for rent from the middle of May to
the middle of September.
This
stretch of the upper Yukon contains some of the most
spectacular and unspoiled scenery on this great river. For
270 miles the Yukon meanders through mountain ranges, past
spectacular bluffs in which 600 million years of geologic
events are documented. Shortly before Circle the river
enters the most eastern portion of the Yukon River Flats.
Between Eagle and Circle most of the land on either side of
the Yukon is part of the Yukon-Charley
Rivers National Preserve. The
towns of Dawson, Eagle and Circle permit an in-depth look at
the short but intense history of the gold rush. Rich in
human history, the banks of the Yukon bear faint traces of
the lives of natives, trappers and gold mines speak of the
great dreams many had brought to the Yukon. Their dreams
still linger and today, in the slap of a fish wheel, the cry
of the peregrine and in the hiss of the silt laden river,
the dreams go on. |
